Proper documentation of your product is essential to maintain continuity between all parts of your product and the manufacturing process. We supply fully detailed prints from assembly drawings with Bill of materials and balloon callouts to 2-D CAD files exported to *.dwg or *.dxf. In addition to 2-D file exports, all 3-D solid model files are exportable in a wide variety of surface files for direct reading from the tool shop's machining package. For a complete listing of file exports click here.
Proper tolerances are also a very important aspect of the final documentation. All the "what ifs" must be questioned and answered within the tolerances. All manufacturing processes need to have acceptable tolerance windows to produce your parts. Those tolerances must not overlap or interfere with a mating parts tolerance. If this happens, you could find yourself sitting with a quantity of product that is correct to the print, but, which does not work in the assembled application. At Original Concepts Design, Inc., we are experienced in providing the proper documentation and the proper tolerances.
Our 3-D solid modeling package will maintain parametric links to the three dimensional part files and also to the two dimensional drawing files, so once you make a change anywhere in the design process, all of the linked files will be updated automatically.
Depending on the complexity of your part, it may or may not be necessary to have formal prints for quotation of your project. You may be able to get a "Ballpark Quote" from some shops with only preliminary sketches or prints, however, prior to quotation for manufacturing, it is recommended you have detailed prints designed for the manufacturing process in order to receive an accurate quotation for your needs.
